Background

Sarasota changed the Comprehensive Plan to allow Lakewood Ranch to expand from the eastern terminus of University southeast to Fruitville Rd. increasing the density to 5000 homes.

The final brief for the appeal of the LWRSE expansion was filed Oct. 1, 2024 with the Second District Court of Appeal in Tampa. Oral arguments are currently set for Jan. 21, 2025 at 9:30.
